Haptic Media (2021- )
Haptic Media is a cross-listed class in Computer Science and Media Arts and Culture at Occidental College, originally developed as part of the Mellon Grant, Arts and Technology in a Cultural Metropolis. The first version of the course was collaboratively designed with guest artists Ryan Rose Aceae, Eugenia Barbuc, Robin LoBuglio and Heather Flowers. Haptic Media students develop interactive projects using the sense of touch, from emotionally expressive visual novels and interactive movies, to unique custom control scheme games. The Haptic Arcade culminates the class with a student-led immersive installation of interactive work.
